Tasting Notes
This is only the second release of this fabulous prestige cuvee after the acclaimed 1997. A blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay-‘Cuvee 225’ takes its name from the small 225 litre oak barriques in which the wine is fermented and matured. The fermentation in smaller batches also allows for a more rigorous selection of each cru, magnifying the power of each variety. There is a richness and unctuousness on the palate with a subtle smoky influence from its maturation in oak, although the wood never dominates. It is a complex wine that gives honey, spice, and vanilla notes with a rich butterscotch finish that is both incredibly generous yet remarkably fresh
