The Pouillon family have lived in Champagne for many centuries, but it was in 1947 that Roger Pouillon first established this Champagne house in Mareuil-sur-Ay. In 1998 grandson Fabrice joined the family business after studying oenology and gaining valuable work experience in Bordeaux(Sauternes) and Burgundy (Chassagne and Santenay) in particular where he developed his ideas on oak fermentation and maturation. more »

Tasting Notes

This is the so-called Pouillon 'house' wine and is the cuvee theyprefer to drink and to serve to guests and friends. A A blend of 50% Chardonnay(from Ay and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger) and 50% Pinot Noir (from Mareuil-sur-Ay and Mutigny). a blend of three great vintages, 1998/ 1999/ 2000 and from prestigious villages indeed.

A very persistent mousse with the nose revealing minerals, spices and hints of citrus. Palate shows great vinosity yet still refined and elegant- with a sustained and very long finish. A 'tour de force' and a great match with seafood or white meat dishes. Dosage is a mere 5g/litre.
