The Voirin-Jumel household is typical of many vigneron relationships in France. Patrick Voiren's family had vineyards in Cramant, and Valerie Jumel's family owned vineyards in Chouilly (both Grand Crus in the Cote des Blancs). So the synthesis is a happy mix.
They own 11 hectares of vines with an average age of 30 years, producing a small range of very individual and elegant wines. Being only a young family, quality is on the improve as Patrick gains more and more experience and confidence. Already they have achieved great respect from many of the local vignerons, and some say that he is the greatest winemaker in the village.Tom Stevenson, the great English Champagne author has lavished much praise on their Cuvee 555-'One of the very best of the distinctly oaky Champagnes from small casks that i have tasted recently is Voiren-Jumel Cuvee 555' - so how long he remains under the radar remains to be seen!
